Being the hands and heart of God

As followers of Jesus we are called to be part of God's healing of the world together.  We walk in the footsteps of the One who lived among "the least of these" and became servant to all.  We offer a range of opportunities to serve the world through partnering with  soup kitchens, food pantries, homeless ministries, interfaith communities,  advocating for just policies and caring for our planet.  We believe that our love of God is shown through our love of neighbor -- and EVERYONE is our neighbor!

FCC Fall Service Opportunities

Putting our faith into action is a core value at FCC and we are pleased to offer a number of volunteer opportunities during the coming fall months. Our help is needed more than ever before, and we are excited for the opportunities we have available this fall.

Saturday October 16 – FCC Teams with Northeast Earth Coalition
It’s time to get your hands dirty! FCC is excited to partner with the Northeast Earth Coalition to help with planting and cleaning at various community gardens in the area, stocking pantry shelves at local community food banks, delivering food to shelters, and various other activities. We are currently accepting volunteers for this event.  (Signups accepted through Sunday October 10.)

Saturday November 20 – FCC Annual Turkey Drive
From 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM in the back parking lot

FCC will team with the Community Food Bank of New Jersey to collect frozen turkeys, canned goods, and other Thanksgiving food supplies. FCC needs the congregation to donate non-perishable food products and volunteers to man the turkey collection station. If you wish to donate food, just mark your calendar to drop off on Saturday November 20, from 9am-2pm, in the parking lot. If you want to volunteer to help with the collections, please click here.
Saturday Nov 14 – 27 – Bridges Outreach Run
FCC is proud to once again support Bridges Outreach in its mission to feed the hungry. We have volunteered to pack and deliver 150 lunches to disadvantaged areas in Newark, NJ. This is an opportunity where almost everyone in the congregation can contribute. First, we need food donations from the congregation. These include:

Chicken or tuna salad with crackers

Fruit cup or unsweetened applesauce with spoon

Nuts, trailmix, goldfish or pretzels

Nutri-grain-type fruit & cereal bar

Drink: Water (6 or 8 oz. bottle)

Brown paper lunch bags

Plastic utensils

Many of the items above are available at your local dollar store. FCC will also require help to bag lunches. We are accepting volunteers to: help bag lunches on Sunday November 14 and Sunday November 21 after church services. Finally, we need volunteers to help deliver the lunches on Saturday November 27 from 9 AM – 1:30 PM. Volunteer signups are available here.
We are grateful for the opportunity to continue our mission to help those less fortunate than we are. Please email Faith in Action Chair Jose Ortiz at with any questions or concerns. All volunteer events will be masked only for the protection of our congregation and those we are trying to help

Jose Ortiz, Chair,

Faith in Action

Called to Sacred Activism

We believe that our faith compells us to speak out in the face of injustice and advocate for policies that advance the dignity of all.  At times that might mean contacting our representatives, holding a vigil, or taking to the streets to be the voice of those who cannot speak for themselves.  We believe that this "sacred activism" is inspired by the prophet Micah who remind us of what God requires : do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with our God."
